We are professional butchers who run what is probably, the oldest farm shop in Cornwall, established in 1880 in Launceston.
As England’s best meat producing area Cornwall and Devon are unique from the lakes or Scotland because our weather is milder which gives us a longer grazing season stretching from early march to November. This enables our beef to be truly grass fed naturally and as well as enabling our lamb onto the pasture earlier than other regions.
Grass feeding is healthier for the consumer as grass fed beef contains omega 3. In most areas stock is grain fed which gives perhaps a slightly softer texture but lacks natural taste and is not necessarily good for the environment as a lot of water and C02 is used to grow the grains to feed the stock.
Due to our weather system and the type of ground on the margins of the moor the cows can live out for most of the year which in turn produces fresh natural healthy meats.
Sourcing from our local farms means we visit the farms regularly and work closely with the farmer to ensure the animals are in the peak of condition before slaughter.
